Before making a character, you need to have an account with World Tree Mush. For simplicity, we generate your account with the creation of your first character, but without an account you need to somehow request a character.
To do this, World Tree has a gmail account, under the name of 'worldtreemush' which can be sent what is known as a Short Application. This is simply a few quick questions about yourself and the character you intend to play. In most cases it will be quickly added, though holidays or potential busy times with staff may delay processing a day or three. This also serves to make sure that prospective new players have a good grasp of the tone of the mush and what they can play, as there is little point in giving a concept out that is assuredly not going to work.
In order to allow a new player to get on grid and RPing quickly, we ask that you apply for a simple concept as your first character. More complex characters can wait until you have a character who can RP actively while working out any complications that might arise from a more difficult application.
The short application can be found here.
If you currently have a character on the game, you can simply use the +altreq command to request a new character.
If you have been away from the game long enough for your characters to have been deleted, you must request a new character through the email process like a New Player. However, if you are requesting to reapply for an old character that has been deleted, and your request is from the same email address, staff can pre-populate all the necessary fields. This will still need to be reviewed in case standards have been updated or new tags added, but it should make the process much faster than writing a full app from scratch.
Once you have a login, you still cannot play until your character has been Approved for play. What this means is you have filled out a list of capabilities and a profile, staff has reviewed it for compliance with rules and consistency and possible errors or typos, and they have found it to meet all those requirements.
While this can be a stressful experience for some, be assured that the Character Staff will work with you as much as possible to adjust and make suggestions so that we can get you playing as quickly as possible. At times, backlogs and Real Life commitments make this process become delayed, but new players will receive first priority in all cases.
