Overview
Lappland is an Operator currently working under the employ of the pharaceutical-sometimes-paramilitary organization known as Rhodes Island. Little is known about her past, save whispers of a life in the organized crime of a city known as Siracusa. Whatever her past, the present indicates someone who has lived a tumultuous existence. While outwardly polite and conversational with all those around her, she is seen as a wild card and even considered 'insane' by some of those among Rhodes Island's medical division. Yet her effectiveness on the battlefield makes her an indispensible soldier, despite her tendency to do as she pleases when it comes to fighting. Her trademark eastern-style swords accompany her everywhere, combined with a rudimentary but powerful channeling of her world's magic, known as Arts. She demonstrates a remarkable ability to observe and adapt to her enemy's weaknesses, while having long mastered her own, making her a fierce opponent for any foolish enough to take her on.
Perks
Rhodes Island Operator: Trained to function small combat units following appropriate doctrine.
As with all Rhodes Island personnel, Lappland is trained to fight according to the doctrines of small unit fighting and tactics. In advance of a basic emphasis on the use of the battlefield's natural chokepoints and defenses, Lappland's own specialties lie in the application of the fight itself, assaulting the enemy troops long before they reach their intended targets.
Wolf Spirit: Brief bursts of ice-empowered magical aura and blasts.
Like many of the people of her world, Lappland demonstrates an ability to channel the mysterious energies known as 'Arts'. In her case, it is wholly untrained and thus she can only activate it for short bursts that she has nevertheless mastered as part of her repertoire. When her power activates, she becomes sheathed in an icy aura while her reflexes increase and she even briefly gains the ability to fling icy bolts with a flick of her weapons.
Eastern-Style Swords: Lappland's preferred weapons are curved eastern-style swords.
Lappland is almost never seen without a pair of custom-made, curved sowrds of an eastern-style. Although she often fights with only one or the other, this may be a ploy to fool her enemies however, as she has been noted as using both as she feels necessary. Her mastery of this style of fighting is plain to even the most unversed of onlookers, and she has spent enough time in fighting to know how to use her own failings as part of her movements.
Tactician's Eye: An eye trained to pick out and exploit enemy weaknesses.
In her years of combat, Lappland has had the time and necessity required to learn how to keenly pick out a foe's shortcomings swiftly and accurately. With only small period of observation, she can turn these weaknesses into advantages for herself.
Lupine Senses: Heightened hearing, smell and sight thanks to wolf blood.
As with many of the people of her home, Lappland has some animal features. Although they only show as ears and a tail in an aesthetic sense, she also possesses enhanced senses of hearing, smell and sight as befitting a creature of lupine descent.
Supernatural Fitness: Peak physical fitness, despite affliction with oripathy.
Despite an advanced case of oripathy infection and visible lesions across her body, Lappland's physical ability does not seem to be impeded in any way. In fact, she seems to be almost superhuman in stamina and ability to fight through pain.
Complications
Unreadable Personality: Eratic behaviour that makes teamwork difficult.
Although Lappland is generally polite and conversational with those around her, if one who loves to get reactions out of people with her dark sense of humour. However, she has a definite unhinged streak in her person, generally reserved for her wild forays on the battlefield, where she becomes brash and uncontrollable to the point of seldom being able to work with her teammates unless it expressly suits her to do so.
Lack of Trust: A difficulty in immediately trusting anyone she meets.
Lappland's upbringing has left her with an immediate need to question the motives of all those around her. It may only be natural to be so guarded given an early life spent as part of organized crime!
Love of the Fight: Lover of the thrill she gets from battle.
Nothing excites Lappland more than a fight, with even the suggestion or hint of one enough to bring an unsettling and predatory grin to her face. It's this facet of personality that often leads others to avoid her, out of fear for their own well-being; although she notably tends only to pick fights with those that actively ask for them.
Suffer Not The Liar: A passionate hatred of deceitful people.
While it is true that Lappland could be considered volatile, there is little more that can arouse her ire than the belief she has been lied to or otherwise deceived. Even the simplest white lie can be enough to trigger a borderline violent response, with little to do but flee until her rage subsides.
