"You kept a Piece of Eden hidden from us. For Months! What compelled you to do this?!" Machiavelli raged, pacing back and forth in the workshop area of the Brotherhood's sanctuary. His rage, boiling and visceral, yet impotent to the younger Assassin, as she worked to replace damaged parts on her partner, the Raptias perched on a rack made by Da Vinci and tracking the movements of the Maestro with her predatory gaze, magenta eyes panning at the pace of the pacing.
"These artifacts are powerful weapons, if used sparingly and with care." replies Piera as she slots a new leg into place, clicking the pins in and folding the panel closed so Aquila can run diagnostics. "I have used it twice since I recovered it. Both times against monsters far more powerful than I, and only to assist others in finishing them off." She turns before beginning with the arm. "Is this not also our Creed? Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted... are my actions and the consequences not mine and mine alone?" She holds her right arm up, showing the scarring around her wrist where the artifact sucked away her life to power its effect. "Even with magical healing, I bear the scars of my actions. I carry the weight of my decisions for life." she turns back, and begins unlatching the broken stump of an arm from its mounting. "I could not allow her sacrifice to go unavenged."
Machiavelli paused, turning to the young woman and frowning briefly. "..." his rage evaporates almost instantly. "To grasp that element so quickly... working with the denizens of the Tree has had a positive impact on you..." he turns, leaving the workshop for several minutes.
Piera ignores the shift, working on fixing her partner. "... I am sorry you got hurt so by my actions." she says to the Shinki.
"It was my decision to heed you. I simply got careless. Nothing more." replies the tiny warrior.
Machiavelli returns after about thirty minutes, the two initiates seated patiently with Aquila running diagnostics on her replaced limbs and syncing them with her originals so she's not off balance when she tries to move. The Maestro sets a large coffer on an open table, then turns to the pair. "Despite your clear lack of disipline and unguarded nature, you have also shown prudence and foresight with your words and actions... I hereby grant you both the title of Discepolo(Disciple)."
Piera and Aquila both share a look, clearly taken aback. "Maestro, that is a great honour, but we are merely Servitore... such a leap is, unprecedented."
"Then this sets the precedent, does it not? Unfortunately, we have no equipment or skills to impart upon you, Aquila, so your title is honorary at best." he gives an apologetic nod to the Shinki, "However, Piera Forta da Forli, you have a choice to make." he turns to open the coffer, and inside is a pair of heavy gloves, a set of vambraces, and some reinforced greaves and boots. "You may take all three of these pieces of armour to improve your defenses, or, you may take these tokens to the training grounds to be taught proper techniques to break grapples and counter them, catch ledges while falling or effective methods of tackling a fleeing opponent." He places three tokens, copper coins with the Brotherhood's emblem on them. "You may take up to three in total, a mixture if desired, the choice I leave to you."
Piera looks curiously, glances to Aquila, then stands to approach. "Thank you, Maestro."
