The Enemy of My Enemy

Over the past year and a half, Sybil had been waiting patiently to further her plans. She finally regained her powers and Baroness Spider was no longer a threat to her. While she had managed to unite the remnants of the Oakland and San Francisco cabal, she needed more maho.

An unexpected one just tried to break into the queen's new palace. One of the guest rooms had been converted into a makeshift jail cell. The simulacrum of Benedicta had been restrained in a recliner. Shel was present as well, having placed several magical seals in place to keep the doll from escaping.

"Well, it's been a while, it seems like you've become a real girl. Though I guess we're always together since I still have part of your soul inside of me." The armored woman couldn't help but to smile at her fortune. "And even if you made it past my security, what have you done? It sounds like you didn't put up much of a fight. You're pretty helpless without the rabbit." She crossed her arms smugly as she stood over Benedicta.

"I shouldn't even exist...this is your fault. Just make me a normal doll again." She couldn't do much more than talk at this point after all and already knew that Sybil was going to force her to act against her will.

"I'm insulted, besides aren't Catholics against suicide? Besides, it sounds like you're more than just a mindless doll now. And something must have happened if you're no longer with the rabbit. What's wrong? "Sybil did her best to sound concerned but it came across more mocking her.

"Sybil, please don't mock my faith. It's one of the few things I have left. I can relate, there are days I wish I had died with the rest of my family." While her expression and vocal tune remained mostly unchanged, Shel could understand not fitting in. The knight kneeled a bit so she could speak to Benedicta on her level.

"Sorry Shel, I didn't mean it like that." Sybil sounded sincere that time as she placed a hand on the younger girl's shoulder. "Well, if you're not welcome at Beacon Society, it sounds like you don't have any options besides me. A magical doll existing kind of goes against everything the Order stands for and I'm sure the feds will make you disappear as well. "

"I'm still not working for you...besides why would you even want me to? You hate Benedicta...or are you still using me to get at her?" The doll already knew what Sybil had in mind.

"You don't consider yourself Benedicta, do you? Would you be happier as your own person? With the power to do what you want? Even if it doesn't mean working for me." Sybil was willing to compromise.

"I have her memories and her values but I'll always be living in her shadow as long as I'm like this..." The doll frowned as she realized the truth. "I don't want her dead though, that's not the right path either..."

"I have to become my own person. It's the only way."
