Overview
For longer than anyone can remember, the goddess Myria -- the nameless God of the people of Urkan Tapa (they are forbidden from speaking her name or referring to her gender) protected the world. It was the Urkans' God who placed the Great Sea, over which no boat could sail. It was believed that devils lived upon the other side.
But the truth was that Myria held the green part of the world in lockdown. Not only did she prevent travel over the Great Sea, but she kept technology locked down, somehow keeping the minds of her children from conceiving anything technological past a certain point.
More than that... she found a race with great power -- the Brood, a race of people who could transform into dragons -- and decided that they were too powerful to exist in HER world. So she ordered them destroyed. Four of Myria's most loyal and powerful warriors were imbued with the Brood's own power. Called the Guardians, they were sent to destroy the Brood... and almost succeeded.
To save themselves, most of the Brood gave up their power and fled to the other side of the Great Sea, where Myria would not follow. Others hibernated deep underground -- some of which were with child. Their bodies turned to chrysm, a magical crystal that was used as a power source. Occasionally a whelp would be found trapped in slumber within the chrysm, but it was usually easily dispatched with dynamite.
One day this was not the case. Ryu, a prince of the Brood, was found, but survived the dynamite and escaped the mine he was found in. Eventually Ryu realized his power and rose against the goddess Myria, with the help of a group of loyal friends. Though it took decades, and there were friends lost to make the victory possible.
With the help of Yggdrasil, the Great Wise Tree, the first life began to sprout in the Desert of Death, which Myria had abandoned as impossible. And with Myria's influence waning, the world could turn itself to rebuilding itself even greater than before.
