This variant of Earth is very similar to most 21st century variants, although there are some differences - for a start, roughly a third of the world's population are anthropomorphic animals!. The technology level is also quite high in places.

Overview

This version of Earth is populated mostly by humans, but also has a high population of various anthropomorphic animal sub-species who often have superhuman abilities of some sort or other. Humans with special abilities are rarer, but not unknown.

The world is not completely unified, but its largest and most influential nation, the United Federation, controls most of its territory and acts as a 'peacekeeping' force for the rest of the world, using its military organisation called the 'Guardian Unit of Nations', or 'GUN' for short.

The greatest threat to the stability of the world is the Eggman Empire, headed by one Doctor Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik. Using his vast army of death machines, he aims to conquer the world for his own twisted ends, although he is defeated at every turn by his nemesis Sonic the Hedgehog.

Thanks to the Eggman's scientific genius, as well as that of his grandfather Gerald Robotnik, this world does enjoy a very advanced state of technology - advanced robots, antigravity and orbital habitats being the most obvious differences.
