Overview

The world of Yu-Gi-Oh! takes you to Domino City, Japan, Circa 1999. A series of unexplainable events has plagued the city all year long, from mysterious deaths to sudden cases of insanity. Just one trait connects almost all of the victims of these bizarre happenings; a criminal background. From the dangerous 'Jirou the Spider' to the elusive thief, Akaboshi, or the negligent Doctor Goyu. Unbeknownst to the public at large, this is all the result of the Game of Darkness, an evil magic cast by the Millennium Items.

Puzzle, Eye, Necklace, Ring, Rod, Scales and Key.

These are the seven items that time forgot, their current location unknown to all but their owners. Machinations toil onwards, as the mysterious Shadi travels the world to test those who have found themselves in possession of the Millennium Items and a certain Pegasus J. Crawford continues his research into the Valley of Kings, and the Egyptian Gods.

In the less occult circles of society, however, the world teetering on the edge of the 21st century is experiencing technological marvels like never before, from mobile phones and common use of the internet all the way to prototypes of true virtual reality, Domino City stands head and shoulders above its multiversal contemporaries within the same time-period, which could be credited to the productive powerhouses of the Kaiba Corporation and Industral Illusions, both of which have put their hat in the ring of lucrative and expensive technologies such as VR, Holographic Simulations, and Advanced Robotics -- rumors even speak of possible A.I. breakthroughs on the horizon.

But that's all looking to a bright future. In the present day, before any grand tourneys using these major advancements, Domino City stands as a sleeping giant of curios and odd happenings that remains ignored by the larger public. After all, who could believe stories of a legendary killer suddenly burning into cinders before he could be apprehended? To most people, rumors of these events are just that and nothing more, rumors.

Yet, every rumor contains a grain of truth.
