Overview

GI Joe, America's Special Missions Force, exists to combat domestic and international threats to the United States and the liberty of all humans, functioning as special support and special forces for law enforcement and military operations. They both deal with threats from elsewhere in the World Tree, and attach themselves as advisors and support to other worlds in need of liberty's pangs.

Their worst foe is Cobra, formed by the consequences of the 1960s and the strife caused by the heat of the Cold War. Cobra Commander seeks to control the worlds for himself, with a pyramid scheme of tyrants that manipulate worlds, movements, and causes they admire - Cobra Commander just happens to have gotten in at the ground floor.

Cobra's ally and sometimes enemy, MARS, supplies weapons and sets up conflicts throughout the world to force evolution of culture and technology. The Iron Grenadiers, the military arm of MARS, travels the worlds selling weapons and setting up small conflicts to sell, test, and show off new products.

The Oktober Guard, an elite military unit fielded by the Soviet Union, is placed inside countries oppressed by dictators, to foment for worker's revolution and protect the rights of the average man and woman. Their ruthless special forces can be seen striking back against abusive elites throughout the World Tree.
Good Feelings

The Earth of GI Joe has reacted very well to the World Tree, with dimensional transit hubs, for the World Tree portals, set up across the planet for trade and movement of information and people. America and her allies have major locations designed for open development and support of foreign worlds in need of foreign aid, also deploying military forces where requested in exchange for resources.

Cobra, meanwhile, uses their clandestine and elite sciences divisions to send their own soldiers into the World Tree, particularly with the aid of Star-Vipers inside Stellar Stilettos piloting dimensional causeways in dangerous rifts to uncharted, or difficult to reach, territories.

MARS uses open arms deals with corporate faces, with large military processing plants being set up in Worlds that make deals, with Iron Grenadiers defending.

The Oktober Guard, meanwhile, supports other likeminded political causes with their Cosmonaut Program, allowing them to get men and materials through portals to foreign struggles in need of assistance.
