Overview
The rooster known as Bi De was once a normal chicken. Purchased by a mystic monk who had turned to farming, the cultivation of the land and the mystic herbs that Bi De fed upon lead to him gaining sapience... and power. A powerful manipulator of his internal energy, his Qi, Bi De is an excellent master of martial arts and a strong warrior. He holds himself to a high standard, devoted to his friends and protecting the innocent and helpless, yet also striving to ever increase his strength. He is honorable and good-hearted to a fault, but still a rooster, so has trouble understanding the culture of humanoids and can be very uncompromising and stubborn.
Perks
Spirit Beast: Stronger and faster than mortal creatures, heals quickly, sharp senses.
Bi De has learned to channel and cultivate his inner life energy, and in doing so is no longer entirely mortal. He is stronger, faster, and tougher than a rooster has any right to be. He can still be killed, and still ages, but is longer-lived than a normal chicken. The Qi, as it is called, toughens his skin and feathers, strengthens his muscles, and gives him keener senses - especially eyesight - than normal creatures.
Path of the Moon: Deadly in hand to hand combat and manifests mystical blades.
Through watching his Master, Bi De has become a master of martial arts, with his own unique style based upon his fascination with the moon. Bi De is an excellent hand to hand fighter and can even adapt his methods to humanoids. With his empowering Qi, his strikes become deadlier as he uses mystically-strengthened muscles and can even make his feathers seem like sharp blades.
Aegis of the Full Moon: Mystical barrier of light to block attacks.
Manifesting his Qi into a solid form, Bi De can form a small barrier of holy light. It is short-lived, but can protect himself and one other, or with strain even more. It is not impenetrable, but useful against strong attacks that his flesh may not be able to handle, and to defend others. It is especially effective against darkness-themed attacks or attacks intended to be corrupting, and is considered 'holy' type by those attacks that recognize the type.
Split Faces of the Half Moon: Bi De can split himself into two bodies.
Using his Qi, Bi De can create a duplicate of himself. When doing this, his two bodies take on a distinctive look: one is bright silver and the other is pitch black. He can choose which of these bodies to put his true self in when he makes the split, but not change it after without dismissing the first duplicate and restarting the technique. His duplicate is much more fragile, but is a physical copy that can fight and move as he wills, but not speak. While Bi De can sense through his duplicate, the senses grow more blurry and faint the farther away the duplicate is, and it becomes useless beyond a few city blocks in distance. Killing the duplicate causes him some pain but otherwise does not injure Bi De, beyond draining some of his Qi for a while.
Sense Qi: Can sense internal energy or mystical power.
When close enough, Bi De can sense how much internal energy someone has, or an item has if it is an item infused with that energy. This only senses their energy, not their skill level or if it can be used. This works best for martial arts that use 'ki' or something similar, but other energies that focus on internal development like some sorts of magic might also be able to be sensed with this. The closer Bi De is, the easier he can sense this and the more precision he has in doing so. Within about ten feet is a safe bet, and the stronger a power is, the farther he can sense them, up to about one hundred yards for very powerful sorts. This sense is not precise enough to replace sight when fighting.
Rooster: Has a carrying voice and can fly short distances, or leap very long distances.
As a rooster, Bi De can crow in a voice that carries long distances. He is also feathered and with wings, and can fly, though isn't the most graceful flyer and cannot fly long distances, even with his Qi-enhanced body. With his enhanced leaping and wings, he can leap and glide for very long distances and can fall from great heights safely.
Complications
Disciple of Fa Ram: Knows very little of practical culture, laws, and tact.
Raised as a farm animal in a remote village, and born a chicken, Bi De understands very little of what most would term 'society' and the like. He understands community and family in the sense of doing things for the greater good, and can even grasp the idea of money and rules and barter, but the actual nuances of how a society works eludes him. His manners are impeccable... for a kung-fu warrior. He knows little of how to interact with those who do not understand his very precise rules, and can sometimes be a little naive about how larger communities operate, and he has no real understanding of respect given to titles. If someone is a leader who leads he will respect them, but a spoiled noble's child will be treated with contempt, regardless of what the consequences may be.
Honorable Warrior: Strictly defends the helpless and obeys honorable duels.
Raised with a strict code of honor, Bi De will do his utmost to defend the helpless and save lives of the innocent. Likewise, he will feel honor-bound to take down any dangerous creature or person threatening them, and will respond to honorable challenges from others. He can fight dirty against one that has proven to be without honor, but his tendency to meddle and accept challenges can put him in dangerous situations.
Just A Rooster: Incompatible with most items meant for humanoids, and small.
No getting around it: Bi De is a rooster. He doesn't wear human clothes, many items simply aren't meant to be handled by his talons, and most equipment just isn't going to work for him. Of course he can get custom items made just for him, but even setting aside the high price of those items, they would also be hard to replace, so in general he is limited to a small satchel and various small items. He's also pretty small, about three feet tall.
Avoids Dungeons: Dislikes being underground and is weakened away from the sky.
While fine in small buildings or similar, Bi De very much hates being underground for any period of time. Anything deeper than a simple basement will make him uncomfortable, and going further will actually make him weaker, until he eventually becomes sickly and listless. This makes it difficult for him to pursue anything that leads into caves, caverns, or complex dungeons. He can go there, but will be at reduced effectiveness and will be constantly distracted and on edge.
