Kanna Ouji

Kanna Ouji
World: Pugna Aeterna-1
Role: Wandering Swordswoman

Overview

Follow the wind, see new places, get in pulse-pounding fights. Kanna Ouji calls it the ideal life. She doesn't talk much about her life before the start of her adventuring career, but it must have been a restrained one, because these days the girl chafes under anything less than full freedom. And the free life of an adventurer suits her well; the swordswoman has a natural curiosity about the world around her, loves to see new and more interesting places... and most importantly, never feels so alive as when she's in a fight, wielding her katana of wind and the powers it grants her. She can be a bit of a hothead, especially when something stirs her nascent sense of justice; surprisingly enough, underneath the carefree samurai is a woman who genuinely cares.

Perks

[Expand]
Genius Swordswoman: A natural gift for kenjutsu and iaijutsu bordering on the divine.
Kanna Ouji is a once-in-a-generation natural talent at swordsmanship. On top of that, she's had actual training, and years of battle experience have honed her into a peerless swordswoman. Even without a magical blade, her skill and reflexes are such that she can parry bullets and cut through metals in a way that seems impossible. Her iaijutsu quickdraws are so fast that ordinary eyes can't even follow them.
[Expand]
Shinsatsufuu: A divine sword of wind bound to Kanna, so sharp that it can sever immortality.
At all times, Kanna carries with her the divine blade Shinsatsufuu, granted to her by the Goddess of War. Deeply imbued with the power of wind, this relic transforms Kanna into a divine champion, clad in a wanderer's raiment that grants her a number of blessings. Being imbued with the cutting element of wind, this sword is impossibly sharp - capable of 'severing' even immortality. It won't instantly kill anyone, but its wounds are as capable of killing gods as they are mortals. Upon seeing this blade, anything immortal can instinctively understand that it is capable of killing them... although how they react depends entirely on them. Kanna's transformation can be done and undone at whim, and the blade will always return to her if lost.
[Expand]
Divine Speed: The raiment of Shinsatsufuu grants superhuman swiftness.
While clad in the divine power of Shinsatsufu, Kanna can move far faster than an ordinary person. Her default sprinting speed could keep pace with a NASCAR racer, and in very short 'gusts', she can move or attack several times faster.
[Expand]
Free as the Wind: Shinsatsufuu's wielder can move unfettered by gravity.
With the blessing of Shinsatsufuu, Kanna can run on any surface as if it were solid ground below. This includes impossibly narrow ledges, clinging to perfectly vertical walls, and leaping dozens of yards easily. She falls so slowly under normal circumstances that there is no such thing as 'fall damage' for her.
[Expand]
Kamikaze< Edge-E >: Wind projectiles and empowerment.
To a limited extent, Shinsatsufuu can manipulate the wind. Kanna can unleash cutting slices of 'sharp' air, wind-elemental attacks that can cut solid matter almost as well as the blade itself. These don't carry the same immortal-slaying properties as the main blade, but they do offer Kanna a good mid-ranged option. In addition, with focus and will, Kanna can draw in the wind itself, enhancing the blessings granted by Shinsatsufuu dramatically. Her speed, her strength, all of them can temporarily reach the realm of the gods themselves. However, this does come with painful backlash after the fact.
[Expand]
Merchant's Eye: Kanna has a keen eye for merchantry and finance.
Somehow, Kanna has a deep knowledge of trade, an inherent understanding of barter, buying and selling. She has a knack for negotiations, can easily tell when someone is trying to shortchange or overcharge, and if she can get a look at a large amount of data, she can spot when someone is manipulating the market, cooking the books, or otherwise playing at merchant shenanigans.
[Expand]
Feinschmecker: Put Kanna in a kitchen and she'll work miracles.
Kanna is an unbridled genius of cooking. She can pick the best ingredients, combine limited items into a delicious feast, and with unfettered access to a well-stocked kitchen, she'll turn out meals good enough to make a grown man weep. With Kanna around, even a foraged meal out in the wilderness will satisfy not just the stomach, but the soul.
[Expand]
Athletic: Hale and healthy, with excellent balance and acrobatic skill.
Befitting an adventurer, Kanna is in very good physical shape overall. She won't be arm-wrestling a demon any time soon, but she maintains the strength and speed needed for a swordswoman, her stamina is particularly impressive, and her balance and acrobatic skill are such that she can perform some fairly impressive feats in the heat of battle, even without her sword's blessings.

Complications

[Expand]
Nekketsu: Despite her casual demeanor, Kanna can be a bit hotheaded.
As laid-back as she may seem, Kanna has something of a quick temper. Casual taunting won't do much, but the moment someone gets a little more vicious, the Crimson Wind won't be able to hold out long before she responds. This also extends to other people; Kanna's sense of justice means it's pretty difficult for her to stand idly by when she sees bullying or cruelty. She's liable to lose her cool easily, even in situations where stealth, discretion or even just calmness would be much better advised.
[Expand]
Free Spirit: Kanna values freedom deeply, and takes a very dim view of slavery.
Kanna has an extreme distaste for being deprived of her freedom. Imprisoned, bound by duty or job responsibility, it doesn't matter; Kanna starts to feel like a tiger in a cage, pacing and antsy, making her already-short temper into something of a hair trigger. She'll choose 'life on the run' over 'sitting in jail waiting to be exonerated' every time, and her distaste for literal or metaphorical bondage even extends to a potent disdain for slavery.
[Expand]
Thrillseeker: If a choice or path includes some mortal peril, sign Kanna right up.
Kanna lives for the rush. The adrenaline surge of a near-death experience. She'd bungee jump or skydive without a second thought, try the world's hottest pepper just to say she's done so, and never feels more alive than in the middle of a pitched life-or-death battle. If there's a challenge, she'll have a hard time turning it down. If there's a fast-and-dangerous route and a slow-and-safe route, she'll take the fast route every single time. Even in more serious situations, if an option that looks more 'fun', Kanna may just take it even if it makes the overall situation more difficult.
