Overview
A strange woman touched by divinity, marked as a Lunar sorceress gifted with unusually clear memory of past lives. Her divine shard was lost for thousands of years after the cataclysmic Primordial War, where the mortals and spirits of the Spiral of Galaxies rose up against inhuman forces of obscene power. She was found by an Autochthonian expedition and reunited with her Solar mate, returning to humanity. Due to the long gap between sightings of her incarnations, the people of Autochthonia treat her with suspicion. But she is considered reliable by those close to her, and she has tried to protect her Solar mate's incarnations for the past few centuries. Depending on who one asks, she may be a medic, archaeologist, or librarian.
Perks
Fluid of Form< Edge-E >: An ability to reshape and control her body with a high level of precision.
While all Lunars can channel a spirit animal, Beatrix is able to modify her body to an extreme. She is able to use the warform Luna blessed her with, a large muscular half woman-half predatory seal an average person not used to Autochthon's Lunar children would liken it to perhaps a werewolf or a movie monster. It takes concentration and energy for her to get into this shape. Her abilities even go so far as to look like other humans through perhaps unsavory techniques - stolen faces gained through ritual. This has gone far enough to hide her tell and conceal her existence as a Lunar. (Note : Edge points are for major shifting, ie. into a whole different shape not just changing her eye color to mess with someone or turn her skin into a deeply tanned canvas because she feels out of place.)
The Blessed Messenger: Communication with Spirits
With many members of Autochthonia being mere mortals and the universe they exist in populated by innumerable supernatural beings wielding extraordinary powers, it is necessary for those who can act as a bridge between the supernatural and mortal worlds. Beatrix has the capability to be that kind of bridge. She can effect a sort of diplomatic immunity for herself and a small party of followers, so long as she and her companions behave and follow whatever rules the supernatural being sets. She also possesses the knowledge and means to negotiate with and persuade supernatural beings, allowing her to smooth over problems between their followers and themselves.
Ailment's Bane: Medical Management of Ailments
A purifying essence, her body can aid in recovery from illness and ailment including plague. When it cannot be purified, she is able to transfer the malaise to her own body to ride it out. She also is encyclopedic in her knowledge of curative treatments. If supernatural means don't work there is always mundane knowledge.
Magess' Mercy< Edge >: Basic magic for protection
A spell dug deep from the deep theurgy that protect her friends and herself. A powerful barrier of icy frost that can easily ward against missiles and projectiles.
Magess' Wrath< Edge >: Offensive Magic to harm others.
A few viciously intense spells that work by harming others. Death of Obsidian Butterflies is a common combat spell, summoning a great swarm of butterflies that rend groups of enemies leaving shrapnel covered earth behind in its wake. Thorns of the Wood Dragon allow her to shift her shape for combat, granting her hands that are wrapped in vicious brambles and enlarged. This helps her to fight in melee with stronger, more knowledgable fighters by making her more dangerous.A worse spell is the ability to touch someone and cause their blood to change viscosity and get oil like before boiling violently like a fryer one has thrown a wet dishtowel into.
Magess' Toy Box< Edge >: Versatile, useful utility spells.
Emerald Countermagic is the magic that protects by unweaving spells. This is not a task for a slouch. She can also unweave wards to make an area safe for passage. This only works against spells of the same power level or lower. Whirlwind Rider provides a safe, easy form of transportation for the lady and her travelling companions across areas otherwise impassable.
Complications
Alien Nature: Not born a human, and it shows.
All Lunars are a little alien. Beatrix is more so than normal. Cultures are fascinating and a cause of vast amounts of confusion. Not Foreign cultures. The one she lives in included, even after so many years. Her thought processes tend to come off as savage or even hedonistic at times. Why does Syd only have one mate? Not sharing is nice but he's a strong man. Why do they not eat more and gain weight to fight the cold? She understands anatomy and and good at healing but her brain slips back to the thoughts a seal would have about a situation. She may also chase and seemingly bully junior exalts - not out of cruelty but to help them learn not to depend on elders, like a mother forcing a pup into self sufficiency, woe to young exalts who need educated. Strange as it is somehow her shard attached to a non human - a simple seal. This expresses by simply not understanding what it is to be human and confusion at customs that most humans take for granted.
Aversion to collecting shapes: Beatrix finds no joy in ending other beings.
The grim reality is, to shapeshift one must drink the hearts' blood. The problem is that it kills people and animals. Due to being so very attached to Syd's shard and generally using him as a connection to the world it's been embedded that killing something casually is a taboo. This taboo makes Beatrix hesitate and not be as predatory as she could be. Hunting is done for needs and the kill may not be wasted.
Lunar Curse: Temper Tantrums of Doom
All Lunars are cursed. Not with bad luck but with a limited amount of patience. Beatrix's patience can be pushed past the brink via someone taking advantage of her good natured mercy and compassion. Like Syd, Beatrix loves the people around her and wants to take care of them. When someone takes advantage or betrays her and hurts those around her she can fly into a rage. Her cruelty and viciousness spreads in a rampage of terror. No one is safe. The target can even be a loved one or friend. She must be reminded about what matters to her or a close friend or Syd used to calm her down.
The Bonds That Bind: Overly Attached Lunar Mate
Bonds of the heart are not logical. Sometimes Solars and Lunars are paired - matched by fate itself. Beatrix is attached to Syd's shard more than most lunars, her need for his approval and keeping him near makes her a bit of a velcro companion at times. She will wilt and get depressed if he is angry at her. She will also get very prideful if praised too much by him. This is born of the first pair's incarnation's strange nature : Adoptive Father figure and gangly obnoxious tween girl neediness, the messy complication continuing through her shapes. It solidified after her death at the hands of the Fallen incarnation of Syd into what it is today.
Freedom: You shouldn't control a wild animal
While adapted to life with humans, her heart is still one of a wild animal. She does not enjoy being ordered around like a dog or held in another's power for too long. Her heart demands the freedom to do her work with suggestion and constructive critique so she is not pushed in directions that do not allign with her thoughts and needs. She may get a bit hot tempered about the matter. Some of her divinity touched friends have an easier time than others - it takes a good long time to tame an animal.
