Overview
Socially awkward, but cheerful and curious, Justine is a fairly typical teenage girl. Except, of course, for her mother having been one of the most hated and notorious criminals to wander the solar system. Unlike her mother, Justine is not a sociopathic monster who murders out of curiosity, but she is an emotional girl... and her mother always treated her with love and respect. Like any good child, she now has a burning desire to strike back at reality for taking her mother from her, and it is her own seething emotion that gives her power. Using her ability to draw power from emotions and animate items invested with it, and a few bits of witchcraft, Justine is set on eliminating any do-gooder that would try to take matters into their own hands.
Perks
Emotional Imprint< Copy-T >: Justine can copy abilities invoked when the user is emotional.
Justine is a very emotional person, but she can also tap into the emotions of others, instinctively. When another person nearby uses an ability when in a state of hightened emotion, like anger or sorrow, Justine instinctively uses her own powers to mimic a version of it. This emotional imprint fades over time, or she can transfer it to one of her animated creatures or her Favorite, losing it from her own abilities.
Animation: Briefly animate small objects.
Justine can briefly animate up to a dozen items ranging in size from a baseball to a car. These items move under their own power, but unless designed with dexterity, they are usually clumsy. Balls roll, tables will bend their legs unnaturally to walk and strike, and so on. This takes concentration for her, so while she can use it as a clumsy form of remote manipulation, the main usage is to attack people or perform some simple task in her stead.
Passionate Empowerment: Slightly stronger, much tougher and faster than normal humans.
The raw emotion helping to channel magic through her body gives Justine's physical attributes a significant boost. She is stronger than most humans, though below the level of true supernatural strength. She is also much more durable than a normal human, able to take impacts and strikes as if heavily armored, though she is by no means bulletproof or stab-proof. Her greatest boost is in her speed, allowing her to move in brief bursts of high speed and to have excellent, superhuman reflexes.
Empathy: Justine can sense strong emotions nearby, or emotions lingering on objects.
Within roughly earshot, Justine can sense strong emotions from people and animals, along with vague distance and location. This isn't precise, but still useful. She can also pick up on the emotional imprints left on things or places by powerful moments of emotion, though she gets no insight into why the emotion is there beyond any physical evidence she can see or touch normally.
Witchcraft: The power to track others, view other locations, and speak long distances.
While Justine is nowhere near as talented as her mother, she was taught quite a few simple tricks. Most of these are just little things like helping to clean her clothes, but a few more potent abilities have been refined. If she has something belonging to a target, she can mystically track them, provided they have no means of countering it. She can also scry distant locations if she knows roughly where she is looking, and has the ability to mentally contact those she has met over several miles with concentration, or even farther with proper preparation... though using a phone is almost always easier.
Prosthetics: Clockwork wings to fly, arms with torch-sword, needlegun and thread.
Both of Justine's arms are made of complex clockwork and magic mechanisms instead of flesh and blood. These mechanical arms are not that much stronger than her normal supernatural strength, but they do have some inbuilt tools: a cutting and welding torch that can turn into a plasma blade, a rapid-fire needle gun, and thread to attach to the needle to help in sewing or to use as a makeshift garrote. Her shoulders also have mountings for mechanical wings, but when going about normally she lacks these, since they make her very distinctive.
Seamstress: Skilled with needle and thread to make clothing or cloth toys.
Her most mundane but soothing skill, Justine is very good with a needle, used to mending or even altering her own clothing, or repairing stuffed animals and toys. She is not so skilled that her work is master-class, but she's very competent.
NPCs
Abandoned Treasures< MotW C-Tier >: Animated items that fight and use her power.
When an item with a lot of emotional weight is abandoned, Justine can sense it and draw upon its latent resentment, even if it isn't a thinking and feeling being. This imbues the item with power proportional to the emotional baggage it has, along with anything attached to it. The item is animated, but for items that have an impractical shape to actually do anything useful, Justine provides wooden dolls or cloth limbs to move. These items are usually only physically dangerous by hitting things, but some of them have very specific single powers related to their situation or nature, like an aura of fire around one discarded due to flame damage. She may also grant them a single one of her Emotional Imprint copy abilities, but she will lose access to it herself until it can be copied from the source again if she does this. These are single-use antagonists.
The Favorite< Boss >: A powerful construct with ranged cutting attacks.
Cobbled together from multiple items with powerful emotional meaning to the original owners, Justine maintains an 'ultimate' construct whenever possible. This construct is usually quite large, eight to ten feet in height, and is generally deployed as a serious defense or when her objective is very important to her, but for some reason she cannot attend to it personally. It is a durable and strong construct, armed with blades that can even cut from a distance due to the semi-mystical nature of the creation. She may give it a single one of her Emotional Imprints, but she loses access to this Imprint herself if she does so, and it fades at the normal rate(3 months from acquisition)
Complications
Emotion over Reason: Justine decides her actions off her feelings alone.
Justine likes to think of herself as a planner and rational, and when it comes to formulating plans and making logical decisions within the context of her motivations, she is rational. Everything related to her emotions, though, is focused on satisfying them and she will twist her rationale however she needs. If she is angry, she will bend everything toward satisfying that even if there are better things for her to do, and she will always rationalize everything based off how she feels. While her individual actions may be logical, her overall acts are purely driven by her emotions, and she's unable to let them go.
Hero Hatred: Holier than thou sorts are an instant target.
Justine doesn't believe true selflessness exists. She tolerates people helping others in situations like helping refugees get to safety or other situations, but as soon as someone's actions require them to assault or take justice into their own hands, Justine's hatred comes into play. Any indication of someone taking matters into their own hands will trigger this, and only people who obviously spend a significant amount of time investigating and double- and triple-checking all the details get anything resembling a pass. Speeches about doing what's 'right' will outright set her off and trigger hatred and anger right away, making the person a target. She only accepts selfish reasons for any actions requiring violence.
Stubborn: Doesn't relent even when it's smarter to let go.
Like many teens, Justine is convinced she knows better, and refuses to alter her course... even when she should. She'll often stick with a plan that isn't working for longer than she should, or refuse to change opinions or plans even if they've been proven wrong or the plans compromised.
Petty: Gives unreasonably harsh responses for minor offenses.
If someone does something Justine doesn't like, they can bet that the response will be disproportionate. Calling her names, interrupting her, pestering her for some reason... she will remember these and while her response may not be immediate, she'll focus unhealthily on the matter until her desire for vengeance is satisfied.
Parents on a Pedestal: Easily goaded into anger concerning her parentage.
Love isn't a complete unknown to Justine. She knows what love is, and has seen it with her mother and her mother's stories of her father. She holds them both in immeasurably high regard and considers herself a defender of their honor. Insulting either parent in any way can make her lose her temper rapidly. Even if she keeps that in check, it's certain to be a problem later on.
