Overview

Not quite Earth, but very similar to it, Pandemonium is a realm of elves. Though many locales are quite similar to Earth's, and even named similarly, the world is more magical in nature. Technology is steam based, and the practices of magic are more than popular amongst the upper class.

It is an era of change, getting closer to the turn of the century. The native Wood Elf tribes of North America are facing displacement by settlers descended from the High Elves and Dark Elves of Europe, while trouble and conflict stirs with the Sun Elves from Mexico and the south. Cities boom and prosper, and expand ever westward as people stake claims for land in search of precious mithril, while eastwards, across the ocean, Jack the Ripper terrorizes London.

But Pandemonium is in dire peril. A secret project run by a coven of powerful witches in New York wrought a terrible cataclysm on the world. An ever spreading anomaly of magical phenomenon spreads from the center of Central Park like a black hole, slowly devouring more and more of the world day by day, and threatening to bring about the last days of Pandemonium.
The Anomaly

A seemingly endlessly hungry black hole focused in the center of Central Park, NYC, formed by the mis-application of several schools of magic and the improper use of Salome and Mariam Highscribe's calculations and formula, this anomaly will one day be the end of Pandemonium. It devours all that it touches, and spreads at an inexorably glacial pace. It is theorized that it will not stop at the borders of New York, but will continue until it envelopes the whole of Pandemonium.

The Anomaly was caused by witches native to Pandemonium, so the world is not a Thorn. However as it spreads it could pose a threat to neighboring worlds; or even more distant ones. Or worse, if those calculations are re-applied improperly on another world, it could cause the beginnings of a Thorn if not checked.

Integration

Pandemonium, for now, is a world with much to offer. Though there are already refugees from New York spreading to other parts of Pandemonium, some elves and even magical creatures are seeking safety offworld, bring their knowledge of steam and magic based technology, and their varied schools of magic with them, willing to share and teach what they know for aid, succour, and refuge.

In the meantime, while the world is still mostly intact, offworlders coming to Pandemonium will find themselves not quite welcomed, but not wholly shunned. Still, Pandemonium has a plethora of magical resources and animals that can be harvested or hunted and taken elsewhere.
