Overview

Over a thousand years before the war between Palpatine's empire and the Rebel Alliance, the star-spanning Galactic Republic was at war with servants of the Sith, a group of evil warriors, long-time enemies of the Jedi Order, both of whom wield a mystic power called the Force. With open warfare having lasted so long on and off, the Sith have begun to splinter into varying factions as they fight among themselves and the Republic's forces along the galactic border.

A madman named Darth Angither seeks to wield the means of empowering entire armies en masse with the Force, to carry out a slaughter of all sides in order to purge the weak and conquer the galaxy's known regions.

Whole star systems have begun to seek independence from the shattered Republic, forming their own alliances or throwing their lot in with the Sith Lords. Other systems have fallen under the protection of Jedi Lords, Jedi Knights who left the Republic in order to proactively combat the Sith on their own territory, enacting fiefdoms under their authority.

It is a dark time, countless lives and worlds lost to brutal intergalactic warfare. But it is also a time for heroes...

Technology

Given the vastness of space, the usage of starships is commonplace in the Faraway Galaxy. Ships are equipped with Faster-Than-Light devices that propel them through a dimension called 'Hyperspace' via pre-plotted courses using hyperspace routes. Using the Hyperdrive, travel between planets went from thousands of lightyears to mere days at most.

Robotic constructions known as droids are also commonplace, with some developing self-awareness akin to Artificial Intelligence.

The most common weapon in the galaxy is the blaster, an energy weapon using ionized gas projectile bolts. Clumsy and at times random, they are regardless the most popular of weapons for hunting and defense.

Rather than using wheeled transports on the ground, it's more common to see vehicles called speeders with hovercraft capabilities, called 'repulsorlift jets', some even possessing flight capabilities.

The Force

An energy field that binds all living things together akin to 'chi', the Force is a powerful thing that can be harnessed with the right training. With it comes the ability to sense other living things, experience visions of the future, lift things telekinetically, project lightning, and heal wounds.

There are two main schools of thought behind the Force. One is that the Force must be kept in balance, one is that the Force is a weapon best used for conquest. The Jedi and Sith follow these respective philosophies, and their war has lasted for thousands of years on and off.

Besides the Force and their robes, the most noticeable mark of a Force user is often the lightsaber, an energy blade powered by Force-imbued crystals of various colors, the Sith often distinguished by their crimson blades.
