Overview

Gielinor is a vibrant nexus of life. From vampyres and demons to elves and dwarves (and of course humans), a great many races stake their claim on this planet in particular. Gods, too, are drawn here as well, resulting in wars and skirmishes in a bid to expand influence against one another. But, currently, life is generally peaceful for most - cities flourish, trade is prosperous, and the average citizen can stake out a living. Not to say there isn't conflict; political tensions between kingdoms play out overtly and covertly, the gods still make their moves against one another through their followers, and of course adventurers roam the lands looking for whatever adventurers are seeking.

Gielinor lends itself quite well to the adventuring type, offering civilized and uncivilized areas alike. Monsters, treasure, and challenging battles lie buried in dungeons for your traditional thrill-seeker, and indeed much of the world's economy is based around catering to exactly these types of people. Integration with the World Tree has only improved this - between the influx of outsiders looking for adventure and the novel technologies being brought in, enterprising merchants are certainly thriving. World integrity is not yet a concern, as the main connections to the World Tree are perfectly mundane portals to and from.

Given the extensive history of new races arriving to Gielinor via the World Gate - a portal connecting various planets in the greater universe, and unrelated to the World Tree - most of the general population isn't greatly affected by the integration. Most folks just see it as yet another set of visitors. Then again, their reaction isn't necessarily welcoming either, since some of those visitors in Gielinor's history led to a massive war that once threatened to destroy the entire planet. Individual adventurers will find a much better welcome than larger groups, as a single person is very unlikely to trigger a second devastating war.
Places of Interest

This is not a comprehensive list, but rather a selection of locales to suit various RP interests. Some more minor locations have been included over more major places in the interest of variety.

Burthorpe: A small town within the Kingdom of Asgarnia, one with its own military - the Burthorpe Imperial Guard - defending against aggression from trolls from the north. Notably, Burthorpe and its neighboring town Taverley to the south feature entry-level training for a wide range of adventuring skills, and form an excellent starting-out point for those just starting their story. More seasoned combatants can also find a good challenge in helping to fend off the latest troll incursion.

Varrock: The economic mecca of Gielinor. Situated along the northern border of the Kingdom of Misthalin, it features the Grand Exchange where a great many people come to trade their wares. Outside of buying and selling, the Varrock Museum is always on the lookout for new artifacts to display - and will *certainly* be interested in those from other worlds entirely. Bordering Varrock to the north is the hostile Wilderness, which poses a consistent threat that needs to be guarded against.

Wilderness: A land formerly known as the vibrant Forinthry, scorched beyond recognition into the hostile hellscape it now is. This place is outside anyone's rule, the volcanic and infertile grounds hosting myriad monsters and dangers that only outlaws and extremely powerful beings would dare visit. There's a few rogue outposts about, with bandits and outcast knights setting up camp in between pillagings.

Karamja: a jungly island with its own independent tribal natives. The small town of Brimhaven enjoys established trade with the mainland, hosting a mixed population (and a pirate outpost). Deeper in the jungle, the influences of modern life have a much less notable impact - the natives there are very much your spear-hunting types, relying on wits and skill to survive. Parts of the island remain uncharted - a risky yet potentially rewarding venture for the willing or bored.
