Overview
A fantasy world with modern technology, home to humans, dwarves, goblins, shadow people and more races. Pelican Town is the heart of the tranquil Stardew Valley, which lies on the southern coast of the Ferngill Republic. Across from the Gem Sea lies the Republic's enemy, the Gotoro Empire. Fortunately, the only impact the war has on the people of the valley is on the impact it had on the few veterans who live there. A greater impact has been the attempts by JojaCorp (Life's Better With Joja) to supplant local businesses, an attempt which has failed.
At first blush the world might seem mundane, with people going about their daily business like they might in any 20th or 21st century rural community, but the tower outside town is home to a real wizard, and monsters roam the mines and the deep forest. Magic is everywhere if you just dig a little deeper, with even some of the farms enjoying some magical productivity.
While the town has been relatively isolated, with the bus being repaired and a Vine showing up near the bus stop, the town is easy to reach. Joja's expansion may have been halted in the Valley, but they have directed their efforts to becoming a truly multiversal corporation, and much like the Columbian exchange, crops and animals are already being exchanged between the Ferngill Republic and other worlds. The Valley is sure to reap the fruits of this sooner or later. Most people of the Valley don't tend to travel much and so don't think hold strong opinions on the Tree, but are generally welcoming to visitors so long as they don't cause trouble. No big difference if they came by bus, Vine or other mode of travel.
