Overview

The Land of Ooo is a large island, one of the few remaining landmasses on the broken world once called Earth. In the aftermath of the global nuclear exchange that swept away human civilization, the few survivors were faced with uncanny hardship. Mutants, undead abominations and strange extra-dimensional creatures drove the few humans into exile, leaving Ooo to be colonized by new forms of life. Elemental beings would seize portions of land and over the centuries develop into new civilizations, some more open or hospitable to life than others.

The landscape, twisted by nuclear devastation and the release of magical and cosmic forces, would play host to strange phenomena, ancient ruins haunted by monsters, sapient machines or even reclusive wizards and witches. Zones of radiation persist as well as heaps of junk, tumbled-down structures and unexploded nuclear ordinance litters the landscape. An entire region is inhabited almost exclusively by ghosts and assorted undead and another volcanic region populated by an assortment of fire elemental people is simply dangerous by merit of it's temperature.

The most prominent and friendly of the assorted kingdoms scattered about the land is the Candy Kingdom, a state constructed from sugar and almost entirely populated by creatures made of candy. Despite that particular quirk, it more closely resembles a proper civilization with an economy and logistical capacity capable of supporting trade with other worlds.
Integration

Ooo is a land stranger than many. Strange visitors from other worlds aren't a problem and are often greeted by the civilized peoples with at least politeness. Though some regions are more trusting of outsiders than others. Commerce is generally unrestricted, crime isn't terribly uncommon though it's most often petty theft and grifting. Logistics are fairly limited due to most technologic advancement coming from barely a handful of individuals. Though, weirdly, internet and cellular coverage are pretty widespread and unrestricted.

Some elements are still hostile and present danger to any who might dare to meddle with this strange world. Or to any unlucky enough to simply run into them.

Kingdoms

The various kingdoms of Ooo, all headed by princesses of varying degrees of competence and sanity.

The Candy Kingdom is, at least upon first blush, the most open and welcoming to outsiders. Observant individuals may notice the ubiquitous surveilance systems scattered about and the presence of the strange 'Banana Guard' is hard to miss. Though the people are all apparently modeled after various candies and sugary treats, it generally operates like any other densely populated city.

The Fire Kingdom is a place hostile to most carbon based life. Though the people there are comprised of living ember and flame and will claim to be evil if questioned, they're generally pleasant if hot-tempered. The true danger of the place is the ambient temperature, a constant 500F broil that requires protective measures for most organics to survive for long.

Other kingdoms are simply less influential or so bizarre and isolated that they're easy to miss. Though the box fort kingdom populated by housecats is pleasant enough.
