Overview

The Pokemon world, of a sort. The year is 2057, the mysterious creatures known colloquially as Pokemon (the now common critters of varying types with often extraordinary powers) have long been a part of everyday life. The world, once almost completely upended by their near biosphere collapsing arrival has adapted alongside these rapidly evolving new lifeforms, almost reaching a state of symbiosis. Pokemon now inhabit every concievable ecological niche from the upper atmosphere all the day down to the deepest marine trenches, with almost all exhibiting both extreme levels of trainability by humans and strange powers that cannot be easily explained by science.

The world is divided amongst many nations with varying levels of development, policies, political freedoms and motivations, requently butting heads over matters of geopolitics, ideology and resources made even more complicated by the machinations of nefarious multinational criminal syndicates and terrorist organisations such as Team Rocket, Galactic and Plasma.

One of the most hot button issues in recent times has been Team Rocket's creation of the Pokemorphs, a sapient humanoid species of heavily genetically engineered Pokemon designed primarily for warfare which rose up against their creators in a violent revolt, and just what to do with them. A fearful government and populace, concerned about the origin and abilities of these new creatures eventually decided to resettle the population (numbering in the several hundred thousands) to a large sparsely populated island off the coast of Kanto as an adhoc quarantine until a better solution could be found, however, these 'morphs quickly ended up establishing their own society, the island eventually becoming an independent and relatively prosperous and vibrant small country in its own right, even if its citizens were not permitted to ever leave its borders.

Some 'morphs however, were able to slip this initial net. Most of them, if not all, went into hiding, forming small isolated communities at the fringes of society or otherwise outside of its easy reach. Some even managed to find a modicum of acceptance in the outside world, or at least, whatever part of it they were able to carve out a life in.
