Granblue Fantasy is the tale of Gran and Djeeta who, armed with an airship, set off to explore the Sky World and battle against the technology-using Erste Empire. Along the way they meet countless companions, forming a grand crew.
Type: BlossomGranblue Fantasy is a fairly generic JRPG world, with big summons, assorted magic, every type of creature or character under the sun, legendary weapons and all that jazz. Technology is pretty mundane in most areas, ranging from medieval towns and castles to almost-modern islands, though airships are pretty common being the only way to travel between islands. The Erste Empire is your archetypical evil empire with supertechnology and magitech creations, from power armor to massive cannons.
No two islands in Granblue Fantasy are alike. They are shaped by the elements, those being fire, water, earth, wind, light and dark. They are shaped by the people who live on them. They are shaped by the threats that inhabit them. And more importantly, they are almost uncountable. In this world where history isn't recorded as diligently as it should be, new islands are found constantly.
Players do not need permission to make up new islands, new species of monsters or even new cultures in this theme. This theme is free to be used as a playground for people seeking JRPG-esque scene or plot settings, so long as no major changes are introduced to the theme without discussion with the cast. New threats, artifacts, monsters and cultures are constantly appearing in the Sky World and players shouldn't be shy about exploiting this.
Both Rage of Bahamut and Shadowverse are considered part of the Granblue Fantasy universe in some capacity. Characters from either games can be applied for in this world, however, players wishing to bring over plot elements from those two worlds should instead apply for them as separate worlds that can then be made to crossover with this one.
Considering the countless cultures, governments and peoples of the Sky World, it is difficult to say how the world at large reacted to the news of other worlds out there, not just other islands or Skydoms.
While most people have not reacted with any kind of surprise or awe, being that new planes, dimensions and islands are constantly being discovered, usually when something bad emerges from them, there are those rare islands that are less friendly to outsiders than others and might represent a source of conflict. On the other hand, the Erste Empire sees in other worlds more land to conquer, and more places to find resources for their ever-expanding technological foothold. Less well-intending forces oscillate between seeing the new worlds as threats, due to an abundance of potential heroes, or boons, due to the abundance of potential allies and powers. It's pretty case-by-case.
Travel to and from the Sky World is extremely common, given that travel between the islands is already a major part of the theme. It's a popular world to visit for would-be adventurers and heroes, and even just tourists looking to sightsee a world of floating islands.
Technology and magic within the world have not changed much, as those are already all over the place. Some islands embrace the new technology a little bit easier than others, but there's some level of resistance to anything that looks too much like what the Erste Empire wields. Conversely the empire is trying to eat every new technology it thinks will help with its conquest.
Some empty islands have been populated by people from other worlds looking for a new place to live. It isn't uncommon to find small colonies of outsider, but this doesn't just apply to people. Monsters, especially flying ones, are drawn to the Sky World like moths to a flame.
