Overview

The world of Castlevania is a world where a secret war is fought--every one hundred years, and sometimes even more frequently than that, the Demon Castle rises with Count Vlad 'Dracula' Tepes at its head to resume his war against humanity. Opposing him and his demonic allies are generations of the Belmont Clan and their allies--sometimes saviors, sometimes pariahs, and arguably cursed to oppose Dracula whenever he rises.

Since the eleventh century, the Belmonts are entrusted with the duty of slaying Count Dracula and various other creatures of the night. Their bloodline is an enchanted one, and they are entrusted with the sacred whip known as the Vampire Killer, which has the power to destroy any being of darkness. Coupled with their skills and power, this has made them fierce enemies against the darkness which they are sworn to hunt.

However, the power of the Belmont Clan has been both revered and feared throughout the centuries. Their power has rarely been understood, and sometimes when it is, they are seen as an obstacle, or simply blamed for attracting the very evil they are sworn to fight. This does not stop them nor their charge to fight the darkness, though sometimes the charge to fight Dracula and his allies falls to others, such as the group Ecclesia.

Regardless, there has been one constant: that Dracula will rise, and there must be someone to face him and his army of darkness. More troubling, however, and what keeps this world from blossoming from the Bud it is is the very same foes they fight--the Demon Castle, Castlevania, where Dracula resides. This Castle twists the laws of space and time, the Castle being compared to a living thing, fully capable of moving and reappearing even after its destruction and collapse following the defeat of its master.

Those who come from here could come from as early as the 11th century to as late as the 20th century--something may cause this to stabilize in the future, but until then, those who come from this world may find themselves out of time with the rest of the World Tree.
