Overview

Fifty-four years ago, in a spectacular battle of Good versus Evil, the magical world 'came out of the closet'. The supernatural beings of the world, the vampires and elves and fox spirits and wizards hidden in the shadows, came out into the limelight, beginning a process of integration with the rest of the world.

Twenty-eight years ago, Shooting Star Heavy Industries succeeded in creating a true fusion of magic and technology. Dubbed the 'Gensou Engine' a then-simple power source proved to be the groundwork for all that was to come. Four years after that, the world watched as one lone girl, with a robotic armor powered by the latest Gensou Engine, showed them all what magitech was truly capable of. An omnicidal dragon ultimately fell before her blade, the worlds of the natural and supernatural grew closer at last, and the age of magitech truly begin.

Now, those worlds almost can't be called 'two' anymore. The supernatural is accepted fact, the arts of magic and science equally respected - and those who can marry the two all the more. The world of technology has surged ahead by leaps and bounds with the mysteries of the arcane to bolster it; cybernetics and 'smart' technology have become commonplace, elves attend public school, oni run successful construction firms, and life in general goes on even with the knowledge that there are those now sending texts and virtual calls that once watched the pyramids being built.

While there is certainly still a mentality of 'us' and 'them' as regards the rest of the Tree, the denizens of this particular Earth are largely unconcerned with outsiders one way or the other, seeing an offworlder as little more than a visitor from another country... as long as they behave themselves. Some local companies might even be willing to hire offworld talent, depending on the person and the industry. Trade is a bit more carefully monitored, however; most nations, particularly Japan, are waiting to see how smaller-scale tourism and interaction goes before committing to large scale transfer of material goods. Especially worlds less knowledgeable, or welcoming, of the supernatural side of things they've come to embrace.
