Overview
Once an innocent girl, now forced into a responsibility she never wanted, Kore's life is a reflection of her myth's life. A rebirth of an ancient Greek goddess, Kore has once again taken her old name... even though she cannot escape her new task as Queen of the Underworld. With the King missing, it falls upon her to attempt to find a way to patch the disintegrating barrier between the physical realm and the afterlife. Using her quasi-mystical cybernetic drone swarms, her robotic minions, and lost shades of the past, Kore desperately seeks new souls to fill the gaps in her own world's afterlife. Despite this she is normally kind and understanding, and only the defense of her family and world rouses her ire.
Perks
Divine Self: Kore is a reborn goddess, with superhuman physical attributes.
Kore is one of the Reborn, a goddess whose essense has found its way into a human host. This has altered the host and left her with a notable presence of divinity, along with granting her body increased strength, toughness, agility and speed. Kore is closer to her domain and seat of power than many of the Reborn in her world, so her physical abilities are even further enhanced, and are beyond normal unaltered human by a fair but noticeable margin, letting her take hits that would cripple a normal woman, lift and throw objects a few times her own weight, and so on.
Cybernetic Implants: Implants to communicate, see better, and revive from death.
No longer fully human or goddess, Kore's abilities often manifest in the form of cybernetic implants. She also has implants that are common in her world, like an inbuilt radio transmitter and receiver she can use to communicate to those nearby who have the ability to tune into frequencies. The channel can also be encrypted, but not in a foolproof manner. Her eyes are enhanced to see in low light or magnify her vision to see far away. Most importantly she has a cortical stack, a small chip in her neck that records her brain activity and can be used to place her in a new body in the event of her death. Normally this could also back her up to a remote server, but this functionality does not work for Reborn, so the destruction of her stack will result in true death.
K.E.R.E.S.: A swarm of replicating drones that attack and trap souls.
Kore's main mode of attack is in the form of reincarnated versions of the servants of the underworld... after a fashion. Stored in her back are small swarms of flying robots, which unfold into lovely, shimmering fluttering drones. The drones strip external metals and other fodder nearby to make short-lived copies, which also copy themselves, though each one has a shorter lifespan than the last so there is an upper bound to this. In effect this quickly creates a swarm of tiny drones that attack with small heat guns and stabbing implements to damage or dismantle opponents... and also, using Kore's power, trap any souls that may be lingering after death and bring them back to Kore. The swarm's range is only about the size of a large city at most, but for practicality's sake to keep it from being spread too thin, Kore rarely extends it beyond her line of sight.
Breath of Spring: Plants grow rapidly and can entangle others. Can mend plants.
Plants love Kore, even after she became aligned with the underworld. While she does not have fine command over them, her presence helps them bloom into health, washing away most minor plant diseases and infections, and with concentration she can even mend damage to plants or plantlike beings. When in danger, nearby plants can rapidly grow and move to entangle her enemies, but this does require plants to be nearby and she cannot directly order the entangling plants to do anything beyond protect her or those she designates a friend.
Torch of Guiding Renewal: A powerful plasma torch.
A powerful and compact plasma cutting torch, this is Kore's main 'mundane' weapon, though its association with her legend gives it a small amount of divine power. It is also longer range than a normal torch, letting her slice things several meters away, though it is still a very close range weapon.
Domain of the Soul: Can capture and manipulate souls, affecting immaterial beings.
As the Queen of the Underworld, and with Hades absent, Kore controls the entrance and exit of spirits to her world. This also gives her some ability to interact with spirits, and she has the ability to grasp and can trap an unattended soul that has recently vacated the body. In other words, if someone dies near her she can trap their soul and take it to her own afterlife. If the soul is sapient, like a ghost with unfinished business or an astral projection, entrapping it is much like capturing a living being, and is not automatic. However, this does give her a natural ability to interact with immaterial beings.
Soul Sense: Kore can sense and communicate with lingering souls and spirits nearby.
In order to do her duty now, Kore can feel lingering spirits nearby her, within a few city blocks, but only within about thirty meters with any great precision. This allows her to sense the recently dead, until their souls have moved on, and also to sense bodiless spirits and astral projections, though spirits that are not technically dead are harder for her to feel and have an easy time hiding from her. She can also communicate with immaterial spirits, though recently dead ones are rarely able to be coherent for her.
Linguist: Kore knows most human languages
As part of her purview of watching over the Underworld, Kore has broad knowledge reading and writing most human languages, including some that are meant to be secret. She cannot understand deliberately obscured languages, nor crack codes, but even some extinct languages are within her ability. The major flaw in this is that she cannot understand constructed languages that did not evolve naturally, nor anything specifically encoded to hide its meaning. Languages meant to only be taught to a small subset of people are within her ability, but the more obscure and farther from normal human culture they are, the less clear their meaning.
NPCs
CERBERUS< Named C-Tier >: Three cyborg attack dogs that combine into a fire-breathing three-headed dog.
Having found and allied with the revived version of the old guardian of the underworld, Kore now often travels with a small group of cyborg dogs. These three cyborg dogs are individually much weaker than her(E-Tier), but when all are nearby they can combine to the three-headed dog of legend. When combined, CERBERUS can breathe fire, along with normal canine attacks. CERBERUS cannot communicate using normal human speech, but is intelligent.
Queen of the Underworld< MotW C-Tier >: A reincarnated creature or hero from the land of the dead to fight.
The gates to the underworld are weakened, much to Kore's displeasure, but it does allow her some freedom in handling problems. Using her authority she can temporarily summon a dead hero or monster from the underworld and manifest it in the living world. These beings can be 'killed' to be sent back to the underworld, and can only linger for a few hours or days at most before fading back into death. Once killed in this manner, it takes decades for the dead to recover enough coherence to be summoned again, making these effectively one shot encounters. They usually either excel at one thing if a hero(like archery or wrestling) or have some special power if a monster, such as breathing fire or rapid flight.
Complications
Enrapture: Kore has an unreasonable love for pretty things.
Kore really likes pretty things. Sparkly jewelry is nice, but not really special. What she really loves are unique sights. A breathtaking sunset, or a rare-cut jewel, or even just a masterwork art piece under just the right lighting. It's sometimes hard to predict what will capture her attention, but once it does, she tends to linger on it, often forgetting what she was doing. She won't let this interrupt her in the middle of combat, it isn't that bad, but it can distract her beforehand... and cause her to hesitate mid-strike if she is in danger of sullying something beautiful.
Desire: Pursues anything she wants a little too stubbornly for her own good.
When Kore wants something, she is used to getting it. In most cases she will at least respect property rights, but if she is denied something she REALLY wants... she'll just go take it. Gods are not used to being denied. She can be snapped out of this by people reminding her that it isn't 'nice' to do that, but on the other hand it can also be used to help lure her somewhere, or to put her in a bad position. She tends to covet the unique and interesting, and also the pretty things(see Enrapture Complication)
Difficulty Explaining: Kore operates on emotions and has difficulty explaining herself in words.
When in a situation where she is trying to do something, it would often be easier to just... explain why. Kore tends to be bad at that. She flusters, gets uncertain, and just answers in short and disjointed statements, unable to complete a train of thought that is easy for others to understand. She uses emotions to motivate herself so much that logical statements and arguments have more difficulty reaching her, though she is capable of being swayed if it is directly relevant to her duties.
Environmentalist: Kore reacts extremely poorly to anything that harms the environment.
Her mother is Demeter, and Kore is very much appreciative of that. She will target anything that harms the environment first, and will divert her attention to stopping toxic spills or pollution if she sees it happening and CAN stop it. She'll even jump into this sort of interference if it isn't wise at the time.
Loyal to a Fault: Unlike most Greek goddesses, Kore is faithful and dislikes flirting.
Hades, in this world, was not exactly an emotive husband... but he was loyal and actually pretty decent as Greek gods go. Kore remembers this, and while she initially disliked him, she came to appreciate that he was a decent sort under all that coldness and inability to express himself. She still considers herself married to him, and takes offense at anyone that flirts too heavily with her. She will accept compliments, but push her too hard and she will become curt and short with someone, perhaps even insultingly so.
