Athena

Athena
World: Olympus 2.0-1
Apparent Age: Young Adult
Role: Distraught Heir
Species: Reborn Goddess

Overview

Not just a namesake, but the Greek goddess herself. Athena is the divine being from ancient myth... reborn into a human body, in a world with technology far in advance of her own. Weakened by her rebirth, Athena is still far superior to a normal human, with remnants of her divine abilities that give her a natural inclination to combat and strategy. Athena tells herself she is here to help put humanity and the world back on the right path, but her curiosity has lead her to distraction. That, and despite her new perspective, she and her family are just as petty and squabbling as they were in mythic times.

Perks

[Expand]
Goddess Reborn: Athena's divinity has made her body superhuman.
Being the divinity of Athena in a human shell, Athena has been made stronger, tougher, faster, and all around enhanced to beyond mortal levels. She is more than mortal, but not immortal. She may heal very fast, but trauma can still cripple or kill her, and she may have immunity to terrestrial diseases and poisons, but exotic or magical ones can still bring her low.
[Expand]
Cybernetic Augments: Athena has implants that can communicate and may bring her back from death.
Like all citizens, Athena has a cortical stack implanted at the base of her neck. Even if her body were to die, this chip could be recovered and implanted into a new empty body to bring her back to life. Her divinity would slowly change the body to her normal form. The cortical stack is small and very tough, but a well-placed bullet or knife can destroy it. Athena also possesses some minor implants that give her the equivalent of a smart phone in her head, for communication and interfacing with computers, either wirelessly or through datajack. She does not currently have any special hacking skills. Athena, as a Reborn god, cannot be backed up to another cortical stack.
[Expand]
Natural Warrior: Athena is good at using weapons to hurt things.
As a goddess of war and battle, Athena is adept at fighting. In raw skill and ability, if not brute force, she is the equal or better of any single soldier in her world. This is reflected in her skill in both hand to hand and ranged combat, allowing her to use any mundane weapon like a skilled soldier. This does not extend to exotic weapons that require specialized training or alien weapons, with which she has at best basic proficiency. It does not allow her to do any weapon tricks or trick shots. The exception is the spear, which she has an excellent grasp of even beyond that of other weapons.
[Expand]
The Tactician: Athena is a natural tactician, and supernaturally aware of her surroundings.
As part of her domain of war, Athena has an instinctive grasp of strategy and tactics. She can rapidly identify choke points, dangerous places to be, sniper nests, and understand logistical problems with a position or time. She also has a supernatural awareness of her surroundings that grants her a knowledge of positioning around her. This extends to several dozen meters around her, but is strongest within a few meters, allowing her to detect hidden or invisible foes if they get too close to her.
[Expand]
Technology Sense: Athena can rapidly understand most technology built by humanlike beings.
One of Athena's domains covered technology in the ancient age, and she maintains a shadow of this ability even now. Athena can understand the general purpose and vague concept behind any technology built by humanlike hands. Unique items take longer for her to get a grasp of, and alien or magical items are no different to her than anyone else. This does not necessarily give her the ability to use the technology she finds, although it does make it easier for her to learn how to use it should she attempt to learn.
[Expand]
Crafting: Athena can create or alter mundane household items very quickly.
Athena's skill with crafts allows her to rapidly create most household items, provided she has the materials. This is unnaturally fast but not instant, so a complex appliance would still take some time, but weaving a basket would happen within minutes. This only works for household items such as pottery, clothing, furniture, and most appliances.
[Expand]
Battle Dress: Athena has various armors and weapons available, high tech and low tech.
While none of it is of spectacular quality, Athena has at her disposal a number of mundane weapons and suits of armor, ranging from spear and shield all the way up to lightweight powered armor and energy rifles. This supply is limited, but enough to keep her armed and armored when she goes out. She usually wears lightweight body armor and carries a slugthrower sidearm and some kind of energy rifle.
[Expand]
Linguist: Athena has a natural grasp of most earthly languages.
She doesn't know /every/ language, but Athena can communicate with almost all languages that humanity in her world have created. Extremely isolated languages, and languages specifically designed as ciphers, do not fall under this umbrella.

NPCs

[Expand]
Little Owl< D-Tier Named >: A small flying drone with scanners and a laser.
Little Owl is what Athena has named her personal combat drone. About the size of a housecat, the drone is oval in shape but for two hoverfan-bearing wings and two large, owl-like eyes. He possesses a small laser capable of firing in short bursts, and a retractable arm that can lift and manipulate lightweight objects roughly the size of a human palm. He can scan in multiple frequencies such as infrared and magnetic, but has limited range. Little Owl is a fully aware AI, but is not very worldly, often questioning Athena or asking about various topics that are taken for granted by others. He is almost childlike and easy to please, and Athena treats him like a valued pet.

Complications

[Expand]
Vanity: Athena is extremely vain about her appearance.
Athena is a pretty girl, and knows it. She knows it too well. Whenever possible, she will avoid spoiling her appearance. Dirt, grime, and blood gained during battle or adversity is acceptable, but intentionally ruining her appearance is not. Athena will hesitate to wear something ridiculous, or to dirty herself unnecessarily. She will also react very poorly to anyone who seems to insult her appearance, sometimes simply by appearing to favor another due to their looks. Calling her a false god or accusing her of doing her job poorly is another way of triggering her ire.
[Expand]
Petty: Greek gods can get pretty petty. Athena is worse than most.
Especially bad when paired with Vanity, Athena is just... extremely petty sometimes. She holds a grudge far too long, and takes insult in far too many things. She will always attempt to 'get back' at someone who does something to make her angry. Usually her vengeance is disproportionate compared to the slight, and she will often throw far more effort and attention into this than is healthy. It can easily drag her away from a more important objective.
[Expand]
Mistress of Battle: Athena tends to think in terms of murdering people to solve problems.
When confronted with a problem, Athena is known to be wise in solving it, and often benevolent. However, for a goddess of war, benevolence means that the solution is found by killing the least amount of people. Athena tends to hold lives in little regard and her first solution is usually to kill the problem, if that is viable.
[Expand]
No Crawlies!: Athena has a marked dislike or hatred for spiders and snakes.
Thanks to her old self's actions, Athena has a distinct hatred for spiders and snakes. She'll target those first in combat, and have a healthy distrust of any beings with She will often go out of her way to exterminate them if she is bored, and will bicker and get along poorly with anyone associated with them if she is forced to work with someone close to such creatures.
