Overview

The latest and youngest ruler of Hyrule, Zelda is a dutiful young woman who takes her responsibilities seriously. Having surrendered her kingdom to the usurper Zant to save her people, she now resolves to take back her kingdom and put its many wrongs to right. The princess is kindly and gentle despite all she's been through. She never spares a second thought to helping those in need, even at her own expense or peril. She is not soft, though, with formidable strength of will. She is meticulous and thoughtful in all things, especially in matters of rule. As a descendant of the Goddess Hylia, Zelda can wield divine sorcery to protect and heal allies or wound enemies. She can also make use of great skill in archery and fencing.

Perks

[Expand]
Archery: Zelda is proficient at archery and horseback archery.
Taught to care for and use bows and fletch arrows, Zelda is an accomplished archer. She cultivated a deadeye aim to make up for her lack of strength, able to score a hit even against moving targets. She can even shoot accurately from horseback.
[Expand]
Blood of the Goddess: Zelda is resistant to corruptive influences and has a 'holy' presence.
Zelda's divine heritage lends her a few curious properties. To supernatural senses she burns brightly as a lighthouse beam, both as divinity and a strong source of magic. Her blood is faintly luminous and potent as a magical reagent, useful for warding against corruptive influences or transformative effects.
[Expand]
Divine Sorcery< Edge >: Zelda can heal, shield, invoke light, and speak telepathically.
As a direct descendant of the Goddess, Hylia, Zelda is blessed with potent sorcery. With it she can heal wounds and summon divine light. This light can be used to illuminate an area, or it can be fashioned into a shield to protect herself and allies. It can also be turned against her enemies in the form of arrows of scathing light, damaging to "darkness" or "evil." Lastly, she can communicate telepathically, but the target must be willing. Edge is required to raise shields or summon a quiver's worth of light arrows.
[Expand]
Equipment: Zelda carries basic survival tools and her weapons with her.
Capable and sensible, Zelda's been living from her rucksack after Hyrule's collapse. In it she carries basic survival supplies and her weapons, consisting of a bow, quiver, and rapier. Her mourning robe protects her from the elements, and its many pockets means she can stuff a lot of stuff into them. Lastly, she keeps a horse on hand, trained to endure combat, but otherwise mundane.
[Expand]
Fencing: Zelda can use rapiers and short swords.
Zelda learned everything she needed to know about how to use a rapier or short sword in the course of her studies. She fosters agility and quick reflexes to make up for her lack of strength or endurance, and her skill makes her much more capable at defending herself than she might otherwise look.
[Expand]
Horsemanship: Zelda is a highly competent equestrian, able to ride well and care for horses.
An adept equestrian, Zelda has the familiarity and patience to work with all manner of horses. Her kindly nature lends itself well to soothing unruly animals, and her reflexes give her the skill to ride at even a breakneck gallop without serious risk. Horses in her care are generally well cared for, and treated with consideration.
[Expand]
Hylia's Legacy< Edge >: Zelda has the power to restrain and banish evil.
With her inherent divinity and the Triforce of Wisdom, Zelda can restrain entities considered evil, though this function of her abilities is monstrously draining, and not without risk to Zelda herself. A point of Edge is required to pin down a single being of darkness or evil. Consent is required to restrain PCs.
[Expand]
Triforce of Wisdom: Zelda is granted wisdom and prophetic dreams by this relic.
With this relic, Zelda rules her kingdom with the wisdom of the goddesses. She can always choose the most sensible course of action when it relates to the good of the kingdom as a whole, or weighs the good of the many against the few. The Triforce of Wisdom also infers prophetic dreams and visions, though Zelda can't always make sense of them.

Complications

[Expand]
Blood of the Goddess: Zelda's divine powers exhaust or even damage her when used.
Using her divine heritage to shield or summon arrows exhausts Zelda dangerously quickly, as a mortal body was never meant to host the raw power of a goddess. Drawing too heavily on these abilities can even damage her, breaking her body down under the strain. In such cases, her safety is wholly dependent on her allies.
[Expand]
Divine Purpose: It's very hard for Zelda not to attack demonic entities even if they're nice.
Owing to her own divine ancestry and Hylia's personal history with the Demon King Demise, Zelda carries a prejudice against demonkind that she can't fully ignore. She must consciously ignore her instincts when she's dealing with the dark and the demonic that isn't actually hostile, and may come off as curt and unfriendly in a way unbecoming of royalty. When she can no longer ignore her instincts, she may act irrationally; if she perceives any threat from such persons, all bets are off and she'll do her best to eradicate the threat. It's possible for her to make nice with demons, but it's uncomfortable for her to be around them. She'll never be able to fully trust, waiting for the demons to inevitably show their true colours.
[Expand]
Monster Magnet: Zelda's inherent divinity attracts monsters and creatures of darkness.
Zelda's inherent divinity tends to attract creatures of darkness, driven to either destroy her or use her divine blood for their own ends. Those aligned with darkness always seem able to identify her for what she is, even if she tries to conceal herself. Stealth is almost impossible around the supernaturally sensitive. This can place her into danger among more unscrupulous types, or attract things to her presence that she isn't remotely equipped to deal with.
[Expand]
Self-Sacrificing: Zelda will throw herself in harm's way even for strangers.
Kindly to a fault, Zelda would use the very last of her energy to save a dying stranger, even if it meant her own death. She cannot abide the suffering of others, not if she can soothe their pain. Her kindness and generosity lead her into the danger of overexertion and overextension time after time.
[Expand]
Weight of the Crown: Zelda's dedication to Hyrule can force her into awful no-win situations.
Zelda's imposed compulsion to rule wisely can conflict with personal desires. If a friend and one of her subjects called for help at the same time, she would have to respond to her subject, no matter the urgency of her friend. Her sense of responsibility can also pit her against enemies beyond her strength to save her people. This tangle of selfless responsibility, forced priorities, and unresolved grief can represent crippling emotional leverage against her.
