Overview

Eddie Brock, Reporter, Vigilante, Loser. He's had a rough life, made mistakes that cost his job on several occasions, lost the girl, and got stuck to an alien goo-blob that calls itself Venom. On the one hand Venom gifts Eddie supernatural strength, speed, create constructs out of a tough inorganic compound, and survive what no normal man is able to, such as taking down the Life Foundation's illegal experimentation on the homeless. On the other it also complicates his efforts to get his life back in order. Now he is acting as something of a reporter both exploring the rest of the World Tree, and confronting potential threats to his home bot has Eddie Brock, and as Venom.

Perks

[Expand]
Venom: A symbiote that enhances Eddie, creates constructs, and can stick to surfaces.
A Klyntar, sapient beings that are amorphous and blob-like when not bound to a host, that betrayed its race and has agreed to stay on Earth to protect it. Venom can fully coat Eddie in a tough inorganic armor, cover just his limbs, or extend itself as tendrils; providing a defensive barrier as well as an increased mass and size. Additionally this substance, being what Venom is made of, allows Eddie to extend his senses through that material so long as it is connected to his body. Furthermore Venom allows Eddie to stick to practically any surface so long as it is capable of holding his weight, and is not somehow treated to prevent sticking. Directed high frequency and or high intensity sounds can cause this inorganic material to retract, pulling away from anything it may be attached to in the process, to retreat inside of Eddie's body. Fire can destroy the compound that Venom is made out of if it is outside of Eddie's body, requiring time for it to regenerate. If, for some reason, Venom is removed from Eddie, it is very likely without immediate and intense medical intervention Eddie will die.

Journalist: Eddie knows the ins and outs of investigating and reporting on the news.
Eddie's worked in both print and televised reporting in the past and does a bit of both now. This translates to Eddie having to have working knowledge of how editing works, researching whatever story he's working on, interviewing people that might not want to be interviewed, and a variety of supporting skills as well as working knowledge of how news entities function within a 'modern' setting. An additional consequence of this career is that Eddie has had exposure to a wider degree of situations and people, giving him more of an emotional cushion when exposed to novel situations.
[Expand]
Brawler: Eddie fights by punching, kicking, and fighting dirty.
Without Venom, Eddie can hold his own in a barroom fight with a measure of success, and has enough muscle to heft and throw things -- bar stools, chairs, tables, some heavy pieces of furniture -- if absolutely necessary. With Venom, however, that very basic hand to hand fighting turns into grabbing opponent -- or even vehicles such as small cars or motorcycles -- to use them as a weapon or shield against other attackers, manhandling, shoving, or shoulder tackling an opponent out of the way. Inelegant and relies more on brute strength and speed than cunning.
[Expand]
Motorcycle: Two wheels, big enough for two, and built for city travel.
Eddie's Motorcycle is a Ducati Scrambler with a few minor modifications here and there more for personal taste than for performance. It is what Eddie likes riding and it works well in urban settings. the only real down side is its lack of storage space if Eddie is carrying more than a backpack or saddlebag's worth of goods.
[Expand]
Symbiotic Resilience: Venom protects Eddie from toxins, disease, mental attacks, and heals him.
Among other things; Venom's bond gives a degree of protection from diseases and allows filtering breathable air from otherwise toxic or underwater environments so long as oxygen is present. Furthermore the bond between Venom and Eddie allows for a degree of resistance to unwanted mental manipulation due to the alien nature of Venom and having to dominate both mind-sat the same time. Even when Eddie does get hurt venom allows him to heal extreme amounts of damage quickly.
[Expand]
Symbiotic Presence: Venom strengthens, toughens, and can coat Eddie in the substance it is made of.
With Venom, Eddie's strength and overall stamina have greatly been increased past normal human limits, allowing him to swiftly scale tall buildings, endure severe injuries while still maintaining relative coherence, and when completely covered by Venom he can lift and throw small cars or hurl men with enough force to shatter cement structures. Additionally Venom augments Eddie's senses and reaction time greatly, while also serving to feed him visual information through the material Venom is made of so long as it is connected to Eddie's body. Lastly, when completely covering Eddie's body, gives Eddie razor sharp fangs able to bite through metal that can also inject a disorienting toxin into the victim's blood stream.

Complications

[Expand]
Always hungry: If Eddie doesn't eat enough, Venom eats him.
Beyond 'Eddie is a black hole food falls into' due to all of the super human things Venom does requiring a lot of calories; Venom requires large amounts of phenethylamine, adrenaline, and other chemicals commonly found in the brain. Fortunately typically foods such as chocolate, seafood, and supplements contain these chemicals. With that said, the temptation is always going to be there when facing someone that either annoys Venom, or has done something to have Eddie label as a 'bad' person for Venom to see them as little more than a quick snack. Since Eddie views murder and cannibalism as a last resort he will often take whatever job he can that will quickly pay for his increased food budget, even if it means bending his morals, or at least lowering his standards. THis is mostly because if Venom cannot get enough food, unfortunately, it starts to break Eddie's body down for the chemicals and nutrition it needs to survive. Venom doesn't like doing that, and can replace what it takes away, but it is something neither it or Eddie can really help so long as they are bonded together.
[Expand]
Fools rush in: Because of Venom Eddie feels compelled to rush towards Danger.
Venom is an alien goo-blob that came from a group of other goo-blob aliens that were going to use earth as an all you can eat buffet, and Eddie was the major reason why Venom changed its mind. This puts Eddie Brock in a position where he feels obligated to not just teach venom what to and not to do, but why these things are important. For Eddie this has forced him to stare at the fact that with Venom he is now able to be in places or do things more typical first responders either can't, or wouldn't survive. Due to his morals, and need to prove to himself that he is in fact a good person, Eddie feels the need to channel Venom's thrill seeking tendencies into action. With that said, Eddie's definition of 'Good' doesn't always align with 'law abiding,' since often times those laws are made to allow 'bad' people to do what they do.
[Expand]
Arguing with Myself: Eddie and Venom are often of two minds on things.
Sharing sucks, and it sucks even more when its your body that is being shared. For the most part Eddie and Venom delegate who's 'driving' so to speak as the situation calls, leaving the other as a background voice. However, when there is conflict on what needs doing one might try forcing an action, or cause hesitation. Often times this is done less out of malice and more because each feels they have a better read on a given situation, but it can cause hesitation that can get them or someone else hurt.
[Expand]
Can't back down: Eddie doesn't like being pushed around or away from a cause.
Being a reporter willing to ask embarrassing questions or air dirty laundry leads to a lot of push back. He won't leap in every situation he sees, at least not the ones where he feels he can't be at least marginally helpful. Thing is, the best way to make Eddie feel like he must involve himself is by trying to make him walk away or threaten him, because if you're that afraid he's nosing around you must be doing something you don't want people to find about, which motivates Eddie even more to find out what's going on and why.
[Expand]
Shortsighted: Eddie doesn't always consider the consequences of his actions.
The biggest problem Eddie has is not thinking through before he does things. The downside of stepping into the middle of a situation is not knowing all the details, or who might get hurt by you acting. Often times it works out reasonably well for Eddie. It's just those few times where him acting goes wrong, it goes very wrong and he has to try picking up the pieces.
