Overview
An all purpose battle android, YoRHa No. 2, Type B, is a soldier through and through. Made by humanity as part of the YoRHa project, an organization of brand new cutting edge androids designed to be humanity's latest and greatest weapons, to fight in a long running war against alien and machine invaders that took over the earth. 2B is one of many androids dedicated to this cause. A competent combatant in both melee and ranged combat with the aid of her Pod, a floating weapons and communications robot, she is an accomplished swordswoman and pilot. She is a stalwart believer in her own convictions in the war against the alien made machine lifeforms, and that she is doing what is right for humanity. 2B is a consummate, no-nonsense, soldier; professional through and through. Though she can be curt, those who get to know the woman beneath the soldier will find a deeply philosophical mind. Together with YoRHa unit 9S, a scanner and scout model, the two have been ordered by YoRHa command to explore the worlds of the Tree and find potential new worlds for humanity to spread to in the event Earth cannot be reclaimed.
Perks
All Purpose Battle Android: No human needs, and can back up her memories.
2B was made for one purpose. Combat. She does not need to breathe, or eat, and only needs to enter a sleep mode for diagnostics and repairs. She is immune to poisons and diseases that affect organic lifeforms, and generally does not suffer from fatigue. In the event of the death of her body, YoRHa manufactures a new one for her and re-installs her consciousness into it. Though this is not a perfect process, and if her memories were not uploaded back to base before her death, there is the possibility of catastrophic memory loss or corruption that may fundamentally result in a 'true' death by virtue of becoming an entirely different person or not being able to be reinstalled at all.
Weapon Skills: 2B can use swords, spears, gauntlets and improvised weapons with master skill.
2B is an incredibly skilled combatant, capable of using most swords, great swords, spears, punching gauntlets, a variety of many other melee weapons, and possibly even some improvised weapons in times of dire need. She can use all of these weapons with a master level proficiency and can perform incredible feats like cutting projectiles and bullets out of the air.
Agile: 2B is very quick on her feet, nimble, has extended jump range and can slow fall.
2B is capable of incredible feats of agility, and has reflexes that are far beyond the capabilities of most humans. She can sprint at olympian speeds, leap up and rebound off walls, use her Pod's hover capabilities to extend her jumps or slow her falls safely, and she can dodge oncoming attacks with extreme skill.
Ho229 Flight Unit: One-man vehicle capable of high speed flight with guns, blades, and missiles.
Less of a vehicle and more of a flying suit of armor, the Ho229 flight unit is designed for use by all YoRHa androids. Capable of a high speed jet mode or a more maneuverable and all purpose walker-looking 'mobile configuration', the flight unit is both for transportation and combat purposes. The flight unit is equipped with energy blades, missiles, gatling guns, and lasers.
Pod Programs< Feature >: Pod 042 can make hard light weapons, guns, lasers, missiles, spears, shields.
Pod 042's hard light emitter can form a myriad of weapons. It can fire gatling guns, laser beams, or small missiles to bolster 2B's combat with ranged abilities. 042 can also be equipped with a variety of 'programs' to simulate other weapons such as spears, rotating blades, warhamers, or even produce limited shielding for 2B.
Self Destruct< Edge-E >: 2B is capable of fatally detonating herself if the need arises.
2B can detonate her body in a powerful explosion, at will, if a mission goes poorly, or if she deems it necessary. The explosion is usually of considerable force and magnitude if she detonates the black box within her that contains her vital power and memory systems. Doing this, naturally, kills her and requires she be rebuilt back at YoRHa base. For a point of Edge she may self destruct without the loss of memory of the events that led up to the moment of detonation, as she uploads her data to the YoRHa Bunker.
Hacking< Feature >: 9S can hijack machines to gain information, control them, or detonate them.
(9S Only) With the help of his Pod, 9S can interface wirelessly with machine lifeforms of his world, and some machines and robots from other worlds. Through the act of hacking he can pull information from a computer or AI, gain brief and limited control over a machine's body and functions, weaken machines, or just cause them to self destruct. The act of hacking is usually contested and can be forcibly cut off by strong willed machine life.
NPCs
Pod 042< Named Feature F-Tier >: Flying combat pod that deals with communications and general support.
A small flying unit, Pod 042 contains a helper AI that handles much of the work for 2B when it comes to managing visual and audio communications, and basic scanning and analytical support. Pod is capable of generating enough lift to briefly slow 2B's falls if she grabs onto it mid flight, and is equipped with a hard light emitter that serves as means of telekinesis to keep 2B's weapons in reach. Pod also has two little grabber arms and can be used... To go fishing.
9S< Named Feature D-Tier >: Android skilled with swords, hacking, flight, maintenance and has a Pod.
A Scanner model of YoRHa android, 9S is capable of combat with a variety of swords, and has flight unit piloting skills. While not as combat focused as 2B he is strong in other fields. Scanner models are stated to be the best around when it comes to handling android maintenance and repairs, and he handles maintenance for himself and 2B. Programmed with an incredible curiosity, he has a bad habit of snooping where he doesn't belong, and is an incredibly capable hacker. 9S is also equipped with a Pod of his own, Pod 153, that functions much the same as Pod 042.
Complications
Emotions: Getting 2B to show emotion is not easy. But she has them.
Emotions are forbidden by YoRHa, considered a luxury only for humans. But beneath 2B's stoic and rigid outer demeanor is a woman who is deeply philosophical and brimming with burgeoning emotion. As her ties grow with others, she will eventually loosen up and begin showing a side of her that is more expressive than her initial outward coolness, and will reveal that she can actually care for others beyond just her mission. However, dealing with these emotions is also a confusing struggle for her and this may result in the possibility of lapses in her more logical reasoning abilities as she reacts to people and situations on a more gut level and can cause her to become reckless, hotheaded, and... Emotional.
What It Means to be Human: 2B has never directly interacted with humans before. They are fascinating.
2B and 9S have both never interacted with humans directly. Human broadcasts from the moon were always stiff propaganda messages. As the two leave their world and interact with actual humans, getting to learn directly about the very people they were designed to fight for could prove to be very enlightening for the androids. Lifeforms other than androids and machines might spark a similar curiosity in the pair, especially 9S. However direct interaction with humans may trigger a protective nature in 2B, as well as possibly teach the androids more about themselves than they realized. Enlightenment isn't always a good thing, though. Humanity has a darker nature that the two are as of yet unaware of, and it could even shake their preconceived ideals. Let alone the fact that they may begin to start digging to learn more about humans in places they should not.
Too Professional: 2B is no nonsense and very direct when it comes to everything she does.
2B is as rigid and stiff as a board. When it comes to everything she does, her duty comes first and everything else is not as important. She is a focused blade on missions and once given a task she sees to completing it without deviation in a very direct manner. When 2B is given a task, she will do her absolute best to see it through efficiently, regardless of the cost to herself.
